Kingston Aluminum Technology

CASE STUDY

Building a modern brand experience for an industry innovator

Kingston Aluminum Technology is pushing the possibilities of aluminum packaging—but its digital presence wasn’t communicating the same level of innovation.

KAT came to Relic with a clear marketing challenge: increase awareness, create a more organized lead-generation process, simplify sample requests, and position the company as the obvious aluminum packaging partner for ambitious brands.

The company didn’t need to become something new. It needed its existing strengths to be seen, understood, and experienced.

The Challenge

An innovative company with an outdated presence

KAT had the manufacturing capabilities, technical expertise, and collaborative team to compete at a high level. What it lacked was a brand experience that made those advantages immediately clear.

The company was facing four primary challenges:

  • Prospective customers didn’t know KAT existed.

  • Existing marketing materials felt dated and disconnected.

  • The website wasn’t effectively educating visitors or generating qualified leads.

  • The established logo needed to remain, requiring the rest of the brand experience to evolve around it.

KAT didn’t need a traditional rebrand. It needed a strategic refresh — and a digital system capable of turning attention into action.

The Objective

Make KAT easier to discover, understand, and work with

Our goal was to create a modern, connected brand experience that could support both marketing and sales.

The new system needed to:
  • Clearly communicate KAT’s capabilities and competitive advantages

  • Position the company as an innovative, collaborative industry leader

  • Help prospective customers find the right packaging solutions

  • Capture and organize incoming leads

  • Streamline the sample-request process

  • Give the sales team better visibility into every opportunity

  • Create consistency across the website, photography, sales materials, and digital touchpoints

Every element had to work together—moving KAT from a dated manufacturer website to a credible, lead-generating platform.

The Solution

A digital ecosystem built around the customer journey

Relic developed a new digital presence that brings KAT’s innovation, products, and people into focus.

Rather than treating the website as an online brochure, we designed it as an active part of the company’s sales process: a place where prospective customers can understand KAT’s offering, explore packaging possibilities, request samples, and begin a conversation.

Brand Photography

Showing the expertise behind the manufacturing

KAT’s greatest strengths aren’t limited to its equipment or products. Its advantage is also found in its people, technical knowledge, and willingness to collaborate with customers.

We planned and directed an afternoon brand shoot designed to capture those strengths. The resulting photography highlights KAT’s manufacturing environment, team, process, and hands-on approach.

Instead of relying solely on technical product imagery, the photography introduces the people and expertise behind the operation—making the company feel both capable and accessible.

Brand Alignment

One consistent experience across every touchpoint

Because KAT needed to retain its existing logo, our work focused on strengthening the visual system surrounding it.

We introduced a more modern digital direction through typography, colour, layout, messaging, photography, and product presentation. We then carried that direction into KAT’s marketing collateral so the company would present one recognizable image across its website, sales materials, sample communications, and customer touchpoints.

The result is an evolved brand presence that feels current and cohesive without abandoning KAT’s existing recognition.

Website Strategy + Design

Translating technical capabilities into a clear sales story

We reorganized KAT’s website around the questions prospective customers are most likely to ask:

  • What packaging formats are available?

  • Can KAT support my product category?

  • What makes its manufacturing process different?

  • What are the minimum order quantities?

  • How do I request a sample or speak with the team?

The new content hierarchy makes a highly technical offering easier to navigate without diminishing KAT’s expertise. Clear messaging, modern layouts, stronger calls to action, and product-focused visuals help visitors quickly recognize where KAT fits into their business.

Shopify Development

Turning the website into a working sales tool

We built KAT’s new website on Shopify, creating a flexible platform that could support both product discovery and lead generation.

The site allows prospective customers to browse KAT’s packaging solutions and move seamlessly toward the next step—whether that means requesting samples, submitting a project inquiry, or connecting with the sales team.

This gave KAT an easier-to-manage website while creating a smoother, more intuitive experience for potential customers.

HubSpot Integration

Bringing every lead into one organized system

To ensure inquiries didn’t end with a website form, we integrated the Shopify website with HubSpot.

This created a more connected process for capturing inquiries, tracking prospective customers, managing follow-ups, and maintaining visibility across the sales pipeline.

Sample requests and new opportunities can now move into an organized system, helping the KAT team provide a more responsive and professional customer experience.

The Result

Innovation, made visible

KAT now has a digital presence that more accurately reflects the sophistication of its technology and the strength of its team.

The new website gives the company a stronger platform for increasing awareness, communicating its capabilities, generating leads, and managing customer interest. Shopify and HubSpot work together to create a more connected journey from initial discovery to sample request and sales follow-up.

Most importantly, the project closes the gap between what KAT is capable of and how the company is perceived.

KAT was already innovating within the aluminum packaging industry. Relic created the brand experience to make that innovation visible.
